Located in the newly renovated Stillwell Building on Western Carolina University's Cullowhee campus, the Geology Program has a vast number of resources available to students. Our department houses classrooms and lab space, student-accessible equipment rooms, a computer lab, and a student room (Stillwell 313) where our students can study, work on projects, conduct meetings, or simply relax and join peers and colleagues over lunch. The geology faculty are all centrally located in Stillwell as well, and strive to build a friendly, interactive environment that is open to students’ needs.
Geology Club
The Geology Club is a student-run organization that serves as an outlet for informal
geology and outdoor-related activities. Examples of recent club events include participating
in a Water Association of the Tuckaseegee River (WATR) river cleanup, a recreational
trip to Turtleback Falls, and a trip exploring coastal hazards of the South Carolina
Coast. The Geology Club is open to students who are interested in rocks and minerals
and the environment, and to those who like laid-back outdoor activities.
