ENGLISH MAJOR CONCENTRATIONS

 English Education (B.S.Ed.)

English - Literature (B.A.)

English - Motion Picture Studies (B.A.)

English - Professional Writing (B.A.)

English majors choose among several concentrations, ranging from studying literature and professional writing. Whether you’re interested in studying great authors, or aspire to become one, majoring in English allows you access to great faculty and greater opportunities.

Our majors become expert thinkers and writers. Those skills are valuable in the university, but invaluable on the job market. Employers consistently look for potential employees who are critical and creative thinkers, and articulate professionals—English majors exceed these expectations. Take a look through our concentrations and decide which one best fits your aspirations. If you have questions, don’t hesitate to contact us.

A minor in one of our concentration areas can compliment virtually any major.  Most of our minors are available as options for English majors (for example, a Professional Writing major can also have a Literature minor), but our minors are particularly valuable professional additions to majors such as Technology majors (Professional Writing Minor), Fine Arts majors (Creative Writing minor), History majors (Literature minor), or Communications majors (Film Studies minor).  The General English minor compliments any resume by exhibiting a breadth and depth of knowledge related to research, writing, and analysis.
