Degree: B.S. in Anthropology; minor in European History.
Profession: Patrol officer, Franklin Police Department, Franklin, North Carolina.
Work: I patrol the city limits of Franklin and enforce traffic regulations. I also deal
with domestic disputes, fights, breaking and enterings, and larceny.
Why Western? I selected Western because it was close to home and I missed the mountains.
Your Western experience: I loved Western. The atmosphere was great and there was such a diversity of people.
Unlike most larger colleges where you are just a number, Western offers you the chance
to get to know your professors.
How did your studies contribute to your career choice? Anthropology helped me to understand various cultures, people, and human relations,
which is what I deal with every day in my career.
Advice for students: Make yourself proud and study hard because in the end it will pay off and you will
be able to say you did it all by yourself.
Into the future: I want to further my career in law enforcement whether that be at a larger department
or in a different field of law. I am very interested in forensics so maybe one day
I will get to work in that area of law enforcement.
