WCU's Physical Therapy Department is pleased to announce the approval of the Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) degree program.  The first DPT class was accepted for fall 2011.

New DPT program gets under way
As 32 students begin working on their doctorates in physical therapy, those involved in the program look forward to the opening of the new Health and Human Sciences Building.

Falls are the leading cause of fatal injuries for Americans 65 and older. More than 18,000 older Americans die every year because of a fall, and the rate has risen dramatically over the last 10 years.

Mission donation to boost scholarships
A $250,000 gift from Mission Health System will provide financial assistance to students from Western North Carolina who want to study in health-related programs at WCU.

Students reflect on volunteer experience in Haiti
Four Western Carolina University physical therapy students traveled to Haiti in May and assisted with physical therapy evaluations and treatments.
