Professor Ramona received in 1980 her Diploma in Nursing from Presbyterian Hospital
School of Nursing and in 1989 her Bachelor in Nursing from Western Carolina University.
In 1991, she received her Master in Nursing degree from Emory University, School of
Nursing, Atlanta, Georgia. In 2013 she began working on a Doctor of Nursing Practice
in Executive Leadership at East Tennessee State University. Professor Whichello worked
at an area tertiary health care organization from 1980-2006 in areas including: nursing
leadership positions and adult oncology. Her most recent experience included serving
as the Vice President/Chief Nursing Officer.
Professor Whichello is married and is the mother of two daughters. She is currently
on faculty as an associate professor at Western Carolina University in Biltmore Park,
Asheville, North Carolina. She is a member of American Organization of Nurse Leaders,
North Carolina Organization of Nurse Leaders, and Sigma Theta Tau International. She
has experiences with professional and regulatory agencies and organizations at the
local, state and national level.
