Biography:
During my undergraduate studies at WCU I decided having the opportunity to work at Western would be fantastic. I was given that opportunity in 2002 and love being here! I teach Introduction to Audiology, Acoustics and Aural Rehabilitation, provide hearing screening opportunities for students, perform diagnostics and hearing aid fittings/orientation in the clinic and travel across the seven westernmost counties in North Carolina testing children’s hearing. I am also the Speech and Hearing Clinic director. I recently co-authored a book with Dr. Georgia Hambrecht titled Clinical Observation – A Guide for Students in Speech, Language, and Hearing (2011) which was a wonderful experience allowing us the opportunity to share our thoughts and practices regarding clinic observations.
One of the most interesting aspects of my job is being involved in student recruitment, advising and working with clinic sites and student placements! I enjoy advising at both the undergraduate and graduate level. Please feel free to contact me with any questions you may have regarding our program at Western Carolina.
In my time away from work I enjoy spending time with my family (husband, Merritt and two daughters, Sydney and Olivia). We are fortunate to live in a great area with lots of outdoor activities. Western is a great campus located in a beautiful area of Western North Carolina. Come see what we have to offer!
