Our department uses graduate admission criteria established by the WCU Graduate School. Regular admission requires:
- a minimum GPA of 3.0 on the last 60 hours of undergraduate studies,
- a GRE score of 290 (verbal plus quantitative) with a writing score of 3, and
- three letters of recommendation.
Provisional admissions are available with program approval. We Welcome Students from All Backgrounds
We welcome students from all backgrounds who are interested in studying communication sciences and disorders. For that reason, we offer a unique admission opportunity to students outside of our field. These students, referred to as “levelers,” are admitted as graduate students and initially pursue a series of prerequisite courses preparing them for the graduate curriculum. Levelers can complete the program in two-and-a-half years.Application Review & Admission Recommendations
Applications for our program are reviewed by a faculty admissions committee, and admission recommendations are made to the graduate dean. Our department seats approximately 30 full-time students in each admission cohort. Admission decisions are made by mid-spring and students are notified shortly thereafter.
