U.S. Marine Corps Tuition Assistance

The United States Marine Corps offers Tuition Assistance (MTA) for all eligible active duty Marines for off-duty educational purposes. The MTA will pay 100 percents of costs associated with tuition and fees within the cap limit of:

To Apply for MTA:
- The student must complete a TA Orientation Class before using MTA. To attend the course, the student should visit the Lifelong Learning or Education Office at his or her local base. (If the student is stationed at a remote location, click here to access the Orientation Course. Upon completion, the student will need to print and fill out the certification form.)
- The student must apply for and receive written authorization for MTA before enrollment. The student will need to submit form NETPDTC 1560, which can be found at military.com/education.
- If the student is located at a remote site, the MTA will be processed at Camp Lejeune (if he or she is stationed east of the Mississippi) and Camp Pendleton (if he or she is stationed west of the Mississippi). I-I duty Marines will apply through MARFORRES in New Orleans. Recruiters will apply via their recruiting district or region headquarters.
Important Information for using MTA:
- The student must complete a degree plan before completing 12 semester hours.
- MTA is not authorized for reimbursement for textbooks.
- MTA is not authorized for use on courses leading to a lateral or lower level degree than the one the student has already attained.
- Any officer using MTA must remain on active duty for two years before completion of the last MTA funded course.
