About the MPTP Program
Telling a story on the screen is the basic skill that ties all the others together. It is part of every course we teach.
- We provide you with a strong set of technical skills using high definition cameras and software, but with the assumption that every bit of it will change. More importantly we teach the underlying principles so that as the technology evolves, you can evolve with it.
- We teach how the real world of motion pictures and television operates: the unspoken rules, the etiquette.
- We expose you to the history, art, and theory of motion picture and television. Making good choices is an essential element for any artist or craftsman and is developed by constant contact with what has stood the test of time.
- As a part of the School of Stage & Screen, we are one of the few programs in the country that combine film with theatre and dance. This means all directing students work with student actors and have access to costumes, sets, props and most importantly, our acting faculty.
- You can be a generalist. Or you can specialize. Directing. Producing. Screenwriting. Cinematography. Editing. Either way, you will understand the entire creative process, not just your part of it.
- We prepare you for the job you get when you graduate and for the job you will have in ten years down the road.
- We keep class size small, and students must apply to get into the program. The benefit is that all courses are taught by our primary faculty, and all students receive individual attention.
Students interested in enrolling in the Motion Picture & Television Production Program must apply. Please visit our online application page for more information.
