Dance at Western serves a variety of student populations – those minoring in dance, those seeking degrees in theatre and music theatre who will need substantial movement skills/body awareness for professional employment, and the general student population. Relative to each of these groups, the dance program strives to provide students with in-depth experiences in the studio, classroom, and performance that will enhance their skill and/or knowledge of the field within the context of their specific needs.
Classes in ballet, modern, tap, jazz, and ballroom offer a wide range of styles from which to choose for our theatre and musical theatre students. The dance minor requires additional courses in dance history, anatomy for dance, and choreography. Our faculty has a wide range of professional teaching, choreographic and performing experience ensuring students a comprehensive and rigorous program of study.
