James E. Dooley is the founder of the Western Carolina Community Chorus and has been Director of the organization since its inception in 1970. Dr. Dooley is former Professor of Music and Head of the WCU Department of Music and recently retired WCU Vice Chancellor for University Services. His published work includes choral arrangements and articles on music and music education, and he has been active for many years as a clinician, adjudicator, and guest conductor throughout the United States. His choral groups have been featured on nationwide radio broadcasts and professional music conferences and have appeared as guest performers with several municipal and professional orchestras.
Barbara Wilson Dooley, his wife, has been accompanist for the Western Carolina Community Chorus from its beginning. She is a private piano teacher and has performed extensively in chamber music ensembles and as recital accompanist.
