Biography:
Kathryn (Katee) Johnson has served as the music specialist at Cullowhee Valley School since August 2003, where she received the Teacher of the Year Award in 2007-08. She previously taught for four years at the Screven County (GA) Elementary School. Her Screven County Elementary School choir was invited to perform for a visit of Vice-President Dick Cheney in May 2003. She is a National Board Certified Teacher and also has Orff-Schulwerk certifications.
At the Cullowhee Valley School, Ms. Johnson has collaborated with her colleagues to develop a wide variety of integrated musical programs at various grade levels. She has also established a mountain dulcimer club at the School, supported by over $5000 in grants. Ms. Johnson is co-founder of the Jackson County Children's Choir.
Ms. Johnson has been an adjunct instructor of Music since 2007, and regularly mentors student teachers for the School of Music.
