Dr. Ron Paulus speaks at MBA Leadership Series

Dr. Ron Paulus, President and CEO of Mission Health, kicked off the MBA Leadership Speaker Series for the fall 2012 semester. Dr. Paulus spoke about the particular leadership challenges faced in the healthcare industry, particularly at Mission, which is the area's largest employer. Mission Health is a $1.2 billion integrated healthcare delivery system serving the Western North Carolina region.

The class was energized by the presented facts and challeges facing healthcare, and students were impressed by the dilemmas faced by hospitals and their senior leadership. One student remarked, "Dr. Paulus is the right leader, in the right place, and at the right time."

According to his bio, Dr. Paulus "received his MD degree from The School of Medicine, University of Pennsylvania, and his MBA, concentration in healthcare management, and BS in Economics from The Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania.  He has published numerous peer-reviewed articles and speaks regularly on the topics of health care quality and efficiency, innovation, physician leadership, and new models of care." Dr. Paulus took the leadership role at Mission Health in September 2010, after serving as Executive Vice President of Clinical Operations at Geisinger Health System, where he also served as Chief Innovation Officer.
