The following are links to sources of funds available to all university faculty.
Chancellor's Travel Fund
The Chancellor’s Travel Fund awards up to $1200 per academic year for some faculty
in support of travel to present their scholarship at professional meetings. If a faculty
member is presenting a paper at a professional conference, look to this fund first.
Professional Development Grants
This program awards up to $1200 to support faculty and instructional staff who persue
professional development opportunities in areas such as teaching and learning, scholarship,
leadership, certification, accreditation, assessment, and other related areas. If
the Chancellor’s Travel Fund will not cover all of your expenses, or if it is not
available to you, look to the Professional Development Grants. You may apply for
two of these per year.
Faculty Research and Creative Activities Award
This university award provides four awards of up to $5,000 each for support of research
and creative activities. It may be used for any purpose consistent with University
policies except instructional improvement or pedagogical studies.
QEP Grants
QEP Development Grants, for up to $750, provide support to a faculty or staff member
for academic and co-curricular activities connected to the implementation of the QEP
goals. The QEP Assessment Mini-Grants, for up to $2500, provide resources to promote
best practices in assessment of the QEP and to facilitate faculty/staff participation
in the scholarship of assessment. Other QEP grants provide for undergraduate academic
projects, student conference presentations, and student non-conference travel.
In addition to funding available to all university faculty, there are sources of funds specific to the College of Business.
COB Development Grant
Awards of up to $1000 to promote professional vibrancy by supporting travel, subsistence,
and registration/tuition expenses associated with activities designed to gain or enhance
relevant knowledge in teaching and research. This award is designed to be a gap-filler
between the Professional Development Grants and the Chancellor’s Travel Fund. A copy
of the 2012 application form is available here.
COB Summer Research Grant
Awards of up to $5000 are available for projects that will result in a peer-reviewed
journal article. Eligibility and application requirements for spring 2013 grants are available
here.
