How did you become an entrepreneur in the non-profit sector?

I have been in the non-profit sector for about thirty years. I have always wanted to start my own non-profit and help the community.

What is Community Wellness?

Community Wellness is a transformative movement to help heal and strengthen our communities through intentional and proactive mindfulness our “inside out” approach provides a framework that connects our mind, body, and actions towards dignity, sustainable mindfulness, and community connectedness. Community Wellness believes in self-transformation through meditation and does not practice any religion.

Is there anyone or any business that has motivated you to open your non-profit business?

I have lived in a violent and low income community. My kids and family really inspired me to try to help change the community we live in.

What difficulties have you faced as a non-profit entrepreneur?

I have been in business for about a year and as you known non-profits depend on grants from government and local business. The hardest part is convincing them we need this kind of non-profit service in this area.

Have you ever created a business plan for your business?
No

Where do you see your non-profit going in the future?
I see the company growing in multiple directions. My plan is to have this kind of service in every low income communities where crime rates are high.

What advice would you give up-coming non-profit entrepreneurs?
Be patient because being a non-profit business you have to wait for funding. Love what you do and help as many people as you can.
Miss McQuinn, thank you for the interview.
