    In the U.S., small businesses employ about half of all U.S. nonfarm private sector workers(1) and small firms accounted for 65 percent (or 9.8 million) of the 15 million net new jobs created between 1993 and 2009(2). According to the US Small Business Administration’s Western North Carolina office, 90% of the jobs in the Western Carolina University (WCU) service region will come from new or existing small businesses in the future.

Entrepreneurship education provides graduates with the skills necessary to think creatively, to successfully launch their own businesses, or to support an employer in launching and growing an entrepreneurial venture. In business education, there is no timelier topic or any more vital subject than entrepreneurship, and this program thrusts Western Carolina University into the forefront of entrepreneurship education.
