In 2010, the UP Program expanded its outreach across North Carolina to develop satellite programs at various N.C. universities and community colleges. The UP Program provides technical and limited funding assistance through mini-grant opportunities to:
- Appalachian State University, Scholars with Diverse Abilities in Boone, NC
- Western Piedmont Community College, Accessible College Experience (ACE),Morganton, NC
If you are interested in applying to become a satellite program, through our mini-grant application (PDF), it is important to begin planning and networking within your college campus first. As part of our Transition Programs for Students with Intellectual Disabilities (TPSID) funding, we have committed to provide technical assistance to other community colleges and universities as a model demonstration program in North Carolina. Colleges wishing to expand fully inclusive opportunities for individuals with intellectual disabilities in postsecondary education should contact our faculty liaison/outreach coordinator, Seb Prohn. Although our current satellite partnership funding has been committed for this fiscal year, we are here to continue providing additional technical assistance.
