Undergraduate Programs in Secondary Education and Specialty Subjects

The Secondary and Special Subjects Education Program is a collaborative degree between the faculties in the College of Education and Allied Professions and the College of Arts and Sciences.

Degrees are offered in a specific discipline (Art, English, Math, Music, Science, History-Social Sciences or Spanish) which allows the student to study that discipline in depth and also earn a teaching license in North Carolina.

Completion of the program leads to a Bachelor of Science in Education degree and recommendation to the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction for initial licensure in grades 9-12 for those completing the secondary education program (English, Math, Science, or Social Sciences) or grades K-12 for those in special subjects (Art, Music, or Spanish).
