As a result of Western Carolina University's program prioritization process, the M.A.T. and M.A.Ed. in Health and Physical Education have been scheduled for discontinuation. If you have general concerns and questions, information can be found on the Program Prioritization webpage at programprioritization.wcu.edu or you can also contact the program director or the School of Teaching and Learning at 828.227.7108.
The Comprehensive Health and Physical Education Master of Arts in Teaching (M.A.T.) is designed to enable students holding degrees other than education degrees to study in selected teaching programs at the graduate or advanced level. Pending satisfactory completion of state-required licensure examinations, the program leads to a recommendation for an advanced license from the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction.
