Comprehensive Elementary Education, M.A.Ed.


This program is for teachers who have an "A" level elementary education teaching license.

The Comprehensive Elementary Education M.A.Ed. degree requires 12 hours in the Professional Core, 18 hours in Elementary Education and a satisfactory portfolio demonstrating advanced competencies for all concentrations.  Students choose between tracks in Literacy or Academically and Intellectually Gifted (AIG).

Successful completion of the program will lead to a Master of Arts in Education (M.A.Ed.) degree with a concentration in Elementary Education and recommendation for Advanced Competencies licensure from the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction for teaching at the elementary level (K-6).

Comprehensive Middle Grades Education, M.A.Ed.


This program is for teachers who have an "A" level middle grades education teaching license.

The Comprehensive Middle Grades Education M.A.Ed. degree requires 12 hours in the Professional Core, 18 hours in Middle Grades Education and a satisfactory portfolio demonstrating advanced competencies for all concentrations.

Successful completion of the program will lead to a Master of Arts in Education (M.A.Ed.) degree with a concentration in middle grades and recommendation for Advanced Competencies licensure from the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction for teaching at the middle level (6-9).
