Welcome to the fully online master’s degree program in human resources (HR). We're pleased that you've joined us!
To get started, please become familiar with Blackboard, the software that allows WCU to create and host courses on the Internet. After
logging into Blackboard, visit the "Student Resources" tab to review FAQ's and a Blackboard
user guide. Under "My Organizations" from your Blackboard home page, you will find
the MSHR Student Commons. The Student Commons is a place where current students can go to access resources
to help you succeed in the program as well as a place where you can "meet" other students
and post discussions. You will also find an online Degree Completion Plan to help
you organize your coursework while you are in the MSHR program and know exactly what
course to take which semester. If you do not see the MSHR Student Commons after logging into Blackboard, please contact
Denise Royer at firstname.lastname@example.org or 828-227-7310 for assistance.
Visit our Online Learning page and view the Technology Tutorials available to become familiar with the format of online learning including Blackboard and GotoMeeting.
You will want to be familiar with the course registration dates for Spring, Summer, and Fall terms. Visit the Academic Calendar and look for "Graduate Student Registration Begins" for the most current registration start dates. Please note the 12:00am start time and that classes do fill up very quickly. You will want to register as close to these times and dates as possible. First semester students should strive to take at least one core required course (ideally HR 605 and HR 610) and one elective assuming the student is working full-time. Visit the HR Program Curriculum page to view all core and elective coursework.
Be sure to log onto My Cat, a place where you will register for courses, view your transcript and more.
