1. Log in to http://www.taskstream.com/
2. Look on the left side of the screen in the navigation bar for the "Lesson Builder"
link and click on it
3. Look for the first box labeled "Create a new lesson." Type the title of your lesson,
then select "TS Standards-Based Lesson" from the drop-down menu.
4. Click the yellow "Create It" button
5. You will see a page listing all the "slots" of information than can be filled in
for this lesson. You can edit any of these slots at any time.
6. Click on the "Designer(s)" button. A new window will open. Your name (as known
by TaskStream) will be shown. You can type in any other names of people who contribute
to the design of this lesson. When done, click "Save and Close Window" which automatically
saves the information.
7. The Summary button allows you to type a brief summary and upload any files or add
web links of your choice to provide a summary.
8. The Grade/Level button allows you to select the grade level(s) for the lesson.
9. The Time Frame button allows you to type in a set time frame for the lesson
10. The Subjects button lets you select the subject(s) covered in the lesson
11. The Topics button allows you to type in a list of topics covered
12. The Notes button allows you to include any information not covered by other "slots"
in the lesson plan
13. The Standards button takes you to the Standards Browser. From here, you can select
any state, national, or international standard in TaskStream's database to be associated
with this lesson plan. For example:
1. Click the “Standards” button
2. Click on "View state standards"
3. Click on the state of North Carolina
4. Click on NC-North Carolina Standard Course of Study
5. Look for "Mathematics" and click on the "Go to Next Level" button beside it
6. Click on the "Go to Next Level" button by Grade 2
7. Click on the "Go to Next Level" button by competency goal 1
8. Click the checkboxes by 1.03 and 1.05
9. Click the "Accept and Return" button
10. These standards are now associated with this lesson. More can be added (or removed) as you wish by clicking the "Standards" button again.
14. The Understandings & Knowledge and Skills buttons allows you to list what students
should take away from the lesson
15. The Performance Task & Performance Prompt buttons allows you to summarize and
attach these items for students to complete (see the directions on these windows for
more information)
16. The Assessment/Rubrics button allows you to summarize the assessment of students,
upload assessments, and upload or attach rubrics made in the Rubric Wizard.
17. The Sequence of Activities button allows you to list key events for the lesson
in chronological order
18. The Differentiated Instruction button lets you type in or upload plans for differentiated
instruction
19. The Resources button allows you to type or upload a list of the resources needed
to accomplish the lesson. You can specifically select technology resources from the
list provided.
20. You can go back and edit any button at any time
The yellow buttons at the bottom do what they say. Note that you do not need to use
the "Save As/Copy" button unless you want to make a copy of the current lesson plan.
It is saved as you save each button.
• E-mail allows you to e-mail the lesson plan to someone else.
• Print view allows you to view and print the lesson plan all in one.
• Publish allows you to post this lesson on a TaskStream generated website for the world to
see.
• Request feedback allows you to send the lesson plan to anyone else at your institution with a TaskStream
account for them to review and give you feedback.
