How To Know the Difference Between Review and Evaluate

When students are done with work on an item in the portfolio (e.g., one item of the Technology Portfolio), they can either submit it for Feedback/Review or for Evaluation.

Feedback/Review
Submission for Feedback/Review means the student is submitting the work to receive feedback on that work. The reviewer can view the student's work and leave comments for students. The reviewer can NOT record a score for the student through the review functions. All comments left by reviewers are visible to the student, other reviewers, and evaluators

Note: Currently, if the student submits a Word document for review, the reviewer cannot edit or annotate that document. The reviewer can only leave comments through a separate text box. Future versions of TaskStream will enable this feature.

Evaluation
Submission for Evaluation means the student is submitting the work as the final version to receive a score/grade. The evaluator can view the student's work and all comments left by reviewers. The evaluator can also leave comments for the student. If the evaluator wishes, the work can be sent back to the student for revision.

Which should I use?
It depends. In most cases, evaluation is the most appropriate as work will simply be submitted for scoring. However, if a preliminary review of the work is desired, students and instructors (and cooperating teachers, etc.) should use Feedback/Review.
