The Assessment Office is housed in the College of Education and Allied Professions at Western Carolina University. The purpose of the Assessment Office is to assist faculty and college administration in assessing programs and their effectiveness on student learning outcomes.
Mission
The primary role of the College of Education and Allied Professions is to prepare
educators, administrators, counselors, psychologists, speech-language pathologists,
recreation personnel and other human service specialists at both entry and advanced
levels in the state of North Carolina and beyond. The College fulfills the college
and university mission by preparing highly effective and ethical graduates that are
inspired to be lifelong learners, engaged in the community, and empowered to become
leaders who strive to transform the future.
The Assessment Office supports this effort by generating data to ensure program quality
and institutional effectiveness on student learning outcomes. The office supports
the college by monitoring college effectiveness, coordinating college-wide assessment
activities, and providing data for internal and external reporting including national CAEP accreditation and North
Carolina Department of Public Instruction accreditation.
