Create a 7-Day Calendar

At the beginning of each semester, create a 7-day calendar that allows you to see the activities that will occur at the same time each week (i.e. class and lab times) and to identify times that are available for important activities like studying and exercise. You should plan to spend two hours studying for every hour you are in class. If you're worried that you won't have any time left over for other activities, check out this sample 7-day calendar for a student who spends:

  • 16 hours a week in class
  • 31 hours a week revising lecture notes, studying, visiting the Academic Success Centers, and completing homework and reading assignments
  • 20 hours a week working at an on-campus job
  • 5 hours a week exercising
  • 8-9 hours per night sleeping

This may seem like an overwhelming schedule, but this student has 24 hours of free time left over! Now that you know what a typical college student’s schedule might look like, try creating a 7-day calendar of your own using this blank calendar template.
