Options for Attendance Grades
The options are as follows:
|
Attendance Grades Allowed In My Cat |
||
|
Grades |
Description |
Used to |
|
1ATD |
Attended during the first week |
Indicate the student attended during the first week of class. (This grade should be changed to a 2ATD if the student attends during the second week of class.) |
|
2ATD |
Attended during second week |
Indicate the student attended during the second week of class. (Please do not use 1ATD to indicate initial attendance during the second week; use 2ATD instead.) |
|
NS |
No Show |
Indicate the student has not yet attended. (Once an attendance grade of 1ATD or 2ATD has been recorded do not switch them back to an NS except to correct an error.) |
|
NSD |
No Show Drop |
Use this grade if you want the student dropped! It is acceptable to initially grade
a student NS and later switch them to an NSD as long as you do it before the NSD deadline;
consider doing this if the student recently registered during drop/add. |
|
NSW |
No Show Withdraw |
Informational; use after the NSD deadline passes. (Use this if you want My Cat to display a message to the student indicating that they did not attend and that s/he should withdraw.) |
|
DNM (new! Spring 2009) |
Class Did Not Meet |
Class did not meet; and/or there is no attendance grade to submit. |
- Attendance grades should be entered in as timely a fashion as possible, preferably the same day the class meets. These grades are immediately visible to students in My Cat.
- Missing grades cannot be assumed as “attending.”
- Regardless of the number of times a student attends during a week, they should be graded as attending for that week.
- The NSD option is permitted in accordance with the institution’s Drop for Non-Attendance Policy.
- By census day every student should have one of the second-week grades from the table above recorded on the fifth-week grade roster.
- Reporting:
- Supports “Early Alert”
- Insures accurate census reporting
- Paves the way for direct deposit of student financial aid
- Attendance grades will be overwritten with fifth-week progress grades during the fifth week.
This attendance reporting requirement should not be confused with the Instructor’s Class Attendance Policy.
