We offer a standardized desktop configuration, including operating system, productivity software, and other basic software.
University-owned computers that are deemed by the DoIT to need a system reimage are eligible for a new installation of the standardized desktop configuration. The DoIT will attempt to migrate any uncorrupted data stored in the My Documents (or Documents) folder from the computer and restore it to your computer after the reimage. Although the DoIT offers this assistance, the data is unrecoverable in certain instances. You are responsible for maintaining a backup of any essential data stored on your computer.
From University Policy 67: Computers and related software and peripherals purchased by the University, will be managed and maintained by the University…. Departments purchasing non-standard hardware or software are responsible for its maintenance. Users shall be responsible for maintaining a backup copy of their software products (license permitting), applications, and data files.
We will not upgrade an operating system version on a computer already in use, without specific business justification.
Must be a WCU owned/tagged computer with a standard hardware/software configuration
