How to Access/Request this Service

Faculty - contact the Coulter Faculty Commons if you don't already have access.

Students have access to Blackboard up to one week before the start of the semester and for the duration of the semester in which they are registered for classes.

Staff have access to Blackboard as assigned for special groups or organizations.

Blackboard Support

Service Description

Blackboard is a robust, learning management system (LMS) used to facilitate teaching and learning for both face-to-face and online instruction. Engagement tools in Blackboard allow for rich discussions, critical thinking, collaboration, and reflection; the possibilities are endless. Outside of instruction, faculty, staff, and students can utilize Blackboard to collaborate with peers and partners of the university.


Users of Blackboard must have Internet access. Other hardware such as microphones or web cameras may be required depending on the course and will be identified by the instructor.


Faculty, staff with WCU accounts, students with Catamount accounts

Service Availability

Blackboard is an enterprise system available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week other than scheduled outages for maintenance.
