At Western Carolina University, we want to develop a culture of integrity among the students. The service goal is to support faculty in promoting academic honesty and instilling positive character development inside and outside the classroom.
A. Consultation - Instructional Developers at the Coulter Faculty Commons will work with faculty and graduate teaching assistants to encourage integrity through their course and assignment design.
B. SafeAssign - SafeAssign is a plagiarism prevention service, offered through Blackboard. This tool helps to discourage plagiarism and to educate students on how to avoid plagiarism.
Only faculty and graduate teaching assistant can access the SafeAssign tool. The SafeAssign tool is only available through Blackboard. Faculty who use the SafeAssign tool are required to include a disclaimer statement (provided by the Office of Legal Counsel) in their course syllabi.
Available to any Graduate Teaching Assistant or Faculty member.
The departments that support Academic Integrity will work together to help all faculty and students become successful in their courses. The Coulter Faculty Commons works with instructors. Students should contact the Writing and Learning Commons or the Department of Community Student Ethics. The Academic Integrity resources are available Monday – Friday 8:00-5:00 by appointment.
