On-Going Issues

Problem 10832: Java 7 issue with Blackboard. Computers upgrading to Java 7 will not be able to use the feature in BlackBoard that allows clients to upload multiple files to their Content Collection under Course Management. BlackBoard is aware of this problem and is planning to address this issue in a future service pack update. Workaround: 1) Upload files one at a time, or 2) Do not install Java 7, or 3) Uninstall Java 7 and install Java 6. (information last updated, 5/28/2013)

Problem 10833: Java 7 is not certified for use with the Banner application. Ellucian is aware of the situation and has begun to cycle tests internally to reach a full set of requirements for Java 7 support. Workaround: Uninstall Java 7 and install Java 6. Please contact the IT Help Desk at (828) 227-7487 or the toll free number (866) 928-7487 if you need assistance with this workaround. (information last updated, 5/28/2013)

Problem 10670: Advisors with a long list of advisees are not able to use the "email your advisees" link inside the Personal Services tab in MyCat. When clicking on the link nothing happens.   This is not a bug with the software or a user error; it is simply how web browsers handle long URL strings (formatted text strings used by browsers and email clients to identify a network resources on the internet) .  Workaround steps to complete the email task can be found by clicking on the problem number.  (information last updated, 5/28/2013)

Resolved Issues

Problem 10854: (Resolved) Report of some computers running Windows 8 are unable to connect to WCU Wireless Network. Many wireless adapter manufacturers ship software for their wireless adapter cards that is not fully developed for enterprise environments such as the WCU Wireless Network. While the software allows wireless connections to home and open commercial networks, such as some beverage or fast food establishments, it lacks the encryption methods needed to connect to enterprise networks. Updating this software, if available, to the most recent version should resolve the problem. Update, 5/28/2013 - RESOLUTION:  Wireless repair tool has been updated to address issues.  Manufacturers have released suitable wireless adapter updates to which has resolved a majority of the wireless connectivity issues.  Current problems are minor at this point and should work themselves out with future operating system and driver updates.
