Welcome to the Western Carolina University Education Briefcase website!
Here you will find background information on the evolution of the WCU Education Briefcase (eB), and resources to help students get started building an eBriefcase. Faculty will find help incrporating the eB in all aspects of their teaching.
The eBriefcase will be the WCU student’s key to joining the growing trend toward online representation to peers, instructors, future employers, and graduate schools. The eB is the place where all aspects of the educational experience come together to foster the development of a well-rounded and capable lifelong learner.

eBriefcase Implementation Strategy
In the Fall of 2011, students enrolled in English 101 classes will be introduced to the eB and will begin to upload files and create artifacts based on their writing assignments. Students who were introduced to the eB in English 101 during the 2010-11 year will continue to use eB in English 202, and will upload any work from other classes that they wish to preserve for use in their portfolios. In addition, several departments and programs will begin to use the eB in their classes and their students will begin to incorporate work product from all aspects of activities in their major. These new adopters include Therapeutic Recreation, Parks and Recreation Management, Environmental Health, Anthropology and Sociology, Social Work, Emergency and Disaster Management, the Master of School Administration and Certificate in Public School Leadership program, and students in the Grant Writing in Health Sciences graduate class.
