Congratulations on your admission to WCU!
Each new Catamount planning to take courses on campus is paired with an academic advisor
in the Advising Center, the Honors College, Student Support Services, or the Teacher
Recruitment, Advising, and Career Support Office (TRACS). Advisors act as an important
"point of contact" for new students and help them prepare their first semester schedule
at WCU.
Your relationship with your academic advisor begins with CatWalk - our online preregistration
questionnaire. After you have completed CatWalk, you will be matched with the appropriate
advisor based on your responses. Once you complete the necessary steps, your advisor
will prepare a tentative course schedule that fits your academic goals. You will
meet your advisor and receive your preliminary course
schedule during your orientation session. You'll also learn about your degree program
requirements and how to make adjustments to your schedule if necessary.
Once classes begin, your advisor can help you get the most out of your college experience
and assist you with any academic issues or concerns. If you are undeclared, your
advisor can help you explore which careers fields and majors are best suited to your
interests, abilities, values, and personality.
While you're at WCU, you should feel free to contact your advisor whenever you have
questions. The better your advisor knows you, the more helpful he or she can be to
you!
We look forward to meeting you!
Go Cats!
