Learning Connections
The following are among the opportunities for interdisciplinary course work, research, outreach and service learning that this initiative has provided for WCU students:
- Students in the first-year integral arts seminar explore advocacy through the arts
- Graduate students engage in research and host public policy forum on health care
- Nutrition students design and conduct community-based research
- Nutrition and educational psychology students develop public school curriculum and a behavior change model to promote healthy life choices. See examples of research papers completed in PSY 363 by clicking here.
- Students in the first-year English seminar produce creative writing pieces and scholarship
- Entrepreneurship students work to develop public relations and marketing plans to create a sustainable model for campus-wide integrated projects
- Television production students create videographic interviews and a studio version of the live performance
- Numerous student organizations design service-learning and advocacy projects to integrate with their mission and goals with health topics
- “Sweet ‘N Low” will tour to Cherokee and Canton as a part of ongoing community partnerships
