| Location: | Take I-40 to Asheville. Take Exit 53 B and merge onto Hwy 74. Take the US 74A West
ramp. Keep right; then turn onto Fairway Road. Turn right onto Swannanoa River Road.
Follow signs to the Nature Center, which will be on the right, over a small bridge,
bear to left and up the hill on right side of road. |

Appalachians. Our goal is to foster understanding of the Southern Appalachian bioregion. |
| Training: | No training necessary for most volunteer opportunities. |

| Skills, Experience, and Special Requirements: | None. |
| Volunteer Involvement: | Students can serve as Animal Department volunteers (note that volunteers will not have direct contact with wildlife!), exhibits assistants, and gardening helpers. Some volunteers may also be able to serve as docents or "Roving Naturalists" who provide information to visitors and schools about the center. Help is also needed in the gift shop. |
