While the Project Challenge's main office is in Spruce Pine, they maintain offices locally in Haywood, Macon, and Cherokee Counties as well as on the Qualla Boundary.

Agency Description: |
Project Challenge works with court-involved youth ages 8-17 in 33 counties and on
the Qualla Boundary with the Eastern Band of the Cherokee. The program engages youth
in meaningful community service activites. The activities fulfill their commitment
to court while helping them understand that they are capable and how needed and wanted
they are by those in their community. The underlying purpose is to help the youth
understand what it is like to be a giving person, to help them touch, see and feel
what it is like to give.

| Training: | Voluneers receive instruction on program philosophy, life skills and guidelines for
working with this population. Volunteers are always accompanied by staff throughout
their time with Project Challenge. |
| Time Commitment: | Minimum of 20 hours. |
| Skills, Experience, and Special Requirements: | Developing relationships with these youth is key. A willingness to share and model
positive behaviors and be a part of a team. |
| Volunteer Involvement: | Volunteers will work directly with the youth doing a variety of community service activities. |
