| Location: | The NC Bartram Trail is an 80 mile long trail located in the Nantahala National Forest
in western North Carolina. Towns nearby are Highlands, Franklin, Bryson City, and
Robbinsville. |
| Agency Description: | A non-profit trail organization that assists the US Forest Service with trail maintenance
on the NC Bartram Trail. All trail workers are volunteers who do periodic maintenance
on the trail throughout the year. |
| Training: | Orientation and training will be provided. |
| Time Commitment: | Saturday or Sunday 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. |
| Skills, Experience, and Special Requirements: | Unfortunately, physical stamina for walking on uneven terrain, slippery slopes, and
outdoor temperature extremes (very hot in summer to very cold in winter time) necessitates
these student volunteers to be fairly hardy and in good physical shape. |
| Volunteer Involvement: | Mature and responsible groups of students who are interested in team-based work hikes
are welcome. |
