The Mountain Heritage Center  is on the ground floor of the H.F. Robinson Administration Building.

Agency Description:  

The Mountain Heritage Center at WCU is a regional center for research and education. We connect people with local history and culture. We build bridges between the University and the wider community. We serve as a resource for cultural heritage organizations in the region.

Training:  

Each area of interest requires some specific training.

Time Commitment:  

Varies.

Skills, Experience, and Special Requirements:  

An interest in western North Carolina, Appalachia, or museum work is helpful but not necessary.

Volunteer Involvement:  

Volunteers may assist with educational programs both in-house and in regional schools (good experience for Education majors), exhibit development (good experience for Arts and Sciences majors and/or Industrial Technology majors), and publications (Graphic Arts majors). Volunteers may also assist with research (data collection) on artifacts or on exhibit topics.
