I-40 to Asheville. Take Exit 53B and merge onto Hwy 74. Take US 74A-West ramp. Keep
right and turn right onto Fairway Road. Turn right onto Swannanoa River Road. |
| Agency Description: | MANNA FoodBank seeks to involve, educate, and unite people in the work of ending hunger
in WNC. MANNA works to ensure that every person in Western North Carolina will have
enough to eat. |
| Training: | In-Service training in sorting food, labeling, etc. |
| Time Commitment: | Warehouse work is possible in 2-hour blocks. Specific times to be arranged ahead.
In addition to daytime opportunities, the Asheville location is open Thursday evenings
and occasional Saturdays. MANNA in Asheville is open from 9:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on
Saturday, and can utilize volunteer services from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. Monday through
Thursday. |
| Skills, Experience, and Special Requirements: | Ability to lift small- to medium-sized boxes of food is helpful. |
| Volunteer Involvement: | Projects and internships as well as community service may be arranged in food processing,
nutrition, agency relations and hunger study, fundraising, children's programs, and
special events. Volunteers may also conduct agency site visits. |
