| Agency Description: |
While providing free access to books and materials, the library also offers special educational and recreational programs for children and adults. The library has a computer lab equipped with 16 stations with word processing, database, and spreadsheet programs, and Internet access for public use. In addition, laptops, netbooks, and wireless access are available in the building. Volunteers may assist with shelving, shelf reading, and youth and adult programming,
as well as other special projects. They may also repair books and assist with book
covering, checking book orders, and organizing the genealogy room. |
| Training: | Must be trained to shelve in the Dewey Decimal system. All book repair and book covering
activities require training. |
| Time Commitment: | Court appointed community service hours will be arranged through Michelle Allison.
Contact her for scheduling information. If service learning projects are desired, contact must be made through Liz Gregg or Jeni Silver. The Library prefers that volunteers commit to a set schedule for specific blocks of time. |
| Skills, Experience, and Special Requirements: | All service learning volunteers must be 18 years of age or older and be willing to
commit to a set schedule during library hours unless special arrangements are made. |
| Volunteer Involvement: | Volunteers may work in the Friends of the Library Book Store (see separate listing),
or serve a greeters. With training, volunteers may also help with covering, repairing,
and shelving books. |
