| Location: | Turn left at Ingles in Sylva. Go approximately 2 miles to the intersection where the
Webster Baptist Church is located. Turn left onto Old Settlement Road; continue on
Old Settlement Road 9/10 mile; and then turn right at MYR sign (DeSoto Trail). |
| Agency Description: | The agency is a private, non-profit, mental health agency designed to address the
needs of the children, family, and individuals. We heal the hurt through counseling
services, provide a safe place to live through residential, foster care, and adoption
services, and encourage a healthy start through education and prevention services.
In the western region service learning hours can be done at Hawthorn Heights, an emergency
residential care and treatment facility. The children are between the ages of 10-17. |
| Training: | No formal training is required. Training and orientation will be provided by agency. |
| Time Commitment: | Varies. |
| Skills, Experience, and Special Requirements: | A criminal background check and drug test are required; volunteers should have their
driver's license available. Strict confidentiality is also required. The application
process takes about two weeks, please keep this in mind when contacting us regarding
service learning hours. |
