| Location: | Take Hwy 23/74 to Waynesville and take exit 102B. Take a right. It is on the left
about a mile down the road. |
| Agency Description: | The agency is a program of Mountain Projects, Inc., a Community Action Agency, with
a mission to promote community service by engaging volunteers and linking them to
opportunities addressing community needs. The Volunteer Center recruits and places
volunteers in non-profit agencies in Haywood and Jackson Counties and coordinates
special projects and events to serve the communities. |
| Training: | None. |
| Time Commitment: | Depends upon the amount of time the volunteer is willing to commit and the requirements
of the agency. There are also episodic events such as fundraisers, special days of
service, and special projects. |
| Skills, Experience, and Special Requirements: | Volunteers must have a desire to help people, be willing to accept training, and be
dependable. |
| Volunteer Involvement: | Volunteers can select the agency that offers opportunities that are most interesting
to them. They can choose from 55 agencies in Haywood and Jackson Counties and can
interview with more than one agency to find the most suitable placement. In addition
they can sign up for "Call as Needed" or "Help in Disaster". |
