| Location: | Take Hwy 23/74 to Waynesville; take Exit 104. Stay right as you exit and turn right
at the traffic light onto Asheville Road. Follow this road until you come to a large
roundabout. Turn left at the roundabout (go all the way around) and follow the road
until you see a farm on the right. The NC Cooperative Extension building is on the
left. |
| Agency Description: | An informal, learn-by-doing, educational program, Haywood County 4-H helps to establish
real life goals among youth, ages five to nineteen. It enables young people to grow
into productive, competent citizens of tomorrow. Through projects, demonstrations,
activities and events, the youth acquire knowledge and skills to last a lifetime. |
| Training: | Training varies according to specific tasks. |
| Time Commitment: | Please volunteer one to three hours per week or more. |
| Skills, Experience, and Special Requirements: | Volunteers must be willing to work with the public, both youth and adults. A volunteer
agreement must be submitted and approved. |
| Volunteer Involvement: | A volunteer can choose from a variety of roles including club leader, day camp helper,
office worker, and county fair volunteer. Volunteers may also assist with public speaking
projects, conduct research, help youth develop life skills, facilitate a Spring Retreat,
and conduct workshops for youth on a variety of issues. 4-H is often event-driven. |
