From WCU/Sylva: Turn LEFT at light at Harris Hospital (and Nick & Nates). Follow Hospital Road to first LEFT. Turn left, then right into parking lot of single-story office building formerly known as "Sylva Medical Center".

Agency Description:  

We are a non-profit, volunteer-based, free, primary care clinic, serving adults, 18-65 yrs of age, who do not have a healthcare provider, have no health insurance of any kind, and are low income. We also serve Spanish-speaking patients. We are the “medical home” for over 2050 patients, having served WNC for 9 years.

Training:  

Some experience in health care education/services is helpful, but not required.

Time Commitment:  

To promote continuity of care & best learning experience, we request a minimum of 3 months.

Skills, Experience, and Special Requirements:  

Commitment to quality patient care and an understanding of patient rights and confidentiality are basic. Dress code will be explained.

Volunteer Involvement:  

Students in pre-med and/or health professions programs may be able to help with direct patient services in clinic. Others may also volunteer in clinic, after individual assessment. We also have a variety of office tasks, including data collection and entry.
