| Location: | Take Hwy 107 from Cullowhee to Dillsboro. Look for a sign on the left side of the
road across from Harold's Supermarket. |
| Agency Description: | The agency receives complaints from the community and law enforcement regarding delinquent
and undisciplined behavior. The complaints are assessed, and it is determined if adjudication
is necessary. The agency supervises the children placed under court jurisdiction. |
| Training: | Student volunteers from social service or criminal justice programs are encouraged. |
| Time Commitment: | Volunteers must be willing to serve in Cherokee, Clay, Graham, Haywood, Jackson, Macon
and Swain counties. |
| Skills, Experience, and Special Requirements: | A criminal background check (provided by the agency) is required. Persons interested
in the welfare of young children are preferred. |
| Volunteer Involvement: | Volunteers can teach, tutor by helping with homework and reading assignments, and
as mentor youth. Volunteers can also shadow court counselors. |
