Skills, Experience, and Special Requirements: |
Individuals must have a sincere concern for the welfare and safety of children in Jackson County. Volunteers, dedicated to the needs of children, should be able to maintain confidentiality and sign a confidentiality form. The coordinator matches volunteers with specific projects as scheduled and approved by the Director (e.g. fundraising) which may be worked on at home or in the office during regular business hours or after hours as the project dictates. |

Volunteer Involvement: |
Most of the volunteer tasks will be for incidental services.Usually volunteers do not work directly with abused children.However, Social Work students may be given the opportunity to assist or observe some direct service activities. Volunteers work to help support the Center financially, do community education about AWAKE and child abuse, promote advocacy for the Child Advocacy Center, enhance the Center with art work, provide maintenance and assistance with tasks as they emerge for center operation, and assist with personal safety curriculum provided through the presentation of a puppet show (twenty minutes in length) presented to kindergarten children in local schools in the Spring. Some volunteers will assist with on-ite child evaluation in collaboration a mission children specialist. |
