| Location: | Take Hwy 23/74 towards Waynesville. Take exit 98. Turn right at the end of exit, then
right at the second light onto Old Balsam Road. Autumn Care is on the right, at 360
Old Balsam Road. |
| Agency Description: | A long-term aid facility for the elderly, Autumn Care provides one-on-one care, serving
meals, and provides craft and exercise classes and special events services. Autumn
Care also offers short-term rehabilitation services. Volunteers may help with Bingo,
visit residents one-on-one, and assist with craft classes. |
| Training: | Volunteers will receive a brief orientation of the facility and overview of resident
rights. |
| Time Commitment: | Minimum of one hour per week. |
| Skills, Experience, and Special Requirements: | Individuals should have a special love for older people. Those who understand long-term
elder care are an asset, but anyone may help. |
| Volunteer Involvement: | The volunteer will participate in individual or group activities, play an instrument,
sing, lead in a craft activity, sit on the porch with residents, or other activities
depending on interest. |
