| Agency Description: | The Alzheimer's Association is a national network of chapters, comprising the largest
voluntary health organization dedicated to helping individuals and families affected
by Alzheimer's disease and related memory-impairing conditions and advancing Alzheimer's
research. At the Western Carolina Chapter, 24/7 they offer support is through a toll-free
Helpline, assist in building caregiver skills for providing care to loved ones, assist
to caregivers and families in accessing professional and community support services,
advocate on behalf of the needs of affected families, and other services. |
| Training: | Training will be provided. It includes an overview of the organization, overview of
the disease and its effects on patients, family, and community. |
| Time Commitment: | Various time commitments according to individual schedules. |
| Skills, Experience, and Special Requirements: | Concern for families living with Alzheimer's disease, interest in working with the
older adult population, interest in nonprofit management, excellent customer service
and telephone skills, ability to maintain confidentiality. |
| Volunteer Involvement: | Assisting callers by telephone, assisting office staff with technical and clerical
projects and tasks, fundraising and special event involvement. |
