Congratulations on your recent appointment as a new staff (SPA) member at Western Carolina University! This page is designed to provide you with current information regarding your employment at WCU including required compliance training and various benefits programs that are available to you. Please review the benefits information prior to meeting with the HR benefits specialist. Remember, if you know what benefits selections you would like to make, many can be done completely through the online links. Others you may complete the forms online, print them out and bring them with you to your appointment with the HR benefits specialist.
New SPA Employee Online Orientation Information
Below are your new employee online power point presentations.
The first presentation is "Benefits Orientation" and includes vital information about your benefit options. Once you open the presentaiton, view in "full screen." You can choose this view by either left cllicking inside the slide and choosing "full screen" or choose that option from the "browse" drop down menu at the top. There are links in the presentation that allow you to complete and print forms for your selections and instructions as to what ones to bring with you to your appointment with the HR benefits specialist, and what ones you can complete totally on line. Benefits elections must be completed ASAP – most must be selected within 30 days to avoid delay and/or pre-existing condition or other special provisions.
The second presentation is "Basic Orientation" and includes several mandatory compliance modules. Once you open the presentation, be sure you are in (or choose) "slide show" view in order for the links inside the presentation to be active. You will be required to print, sign and forward an acknowledgement form for each of those modules to Human Resources before the end of your probationary period.
