North Carolina Center for the Advancement of Teaching

The North Carolina Center for the Advancement of Teaching (NCCAT) was established by the General Assembly of North Carolina in 1985 as a statewide center to recognize and support outstanding North Carolina (pre Kindergarten through twelth-grade) public school teachers and to enhance teaching as an art and profession. The center is located west of the WCU campus. A unit of the University of North Carolina, it is governed by a board of trustees, and its programs and activities are conducted by a professional staff of faculty and administrators.
