Temporary new look for main, admissions Web sites

Posted: May 3, 2006

On Thursday, May 4, WCU's main Web pages and admissions site will take on a temporary new look to improve ease of use and match the look and feel of WCU's other newer sites. The new look is an interim step prior to a major redesign that will begin to be rolled out in the fall.

WCU began a major Web redesign process in January of this year when representatives from the chosen consulting firm, mStoner, visited campus and met with groups and individuals as part of the discovery phase of the project.

Members of the mStoner team returned to Cullowhee in March to provide a content workshop for a group of campus Web masters and content creators and assist in the creation of the current blog pages posted by students. (Visit the blog pages at http://www.wcublog.com/ ).

Members of the Division of Information Technology worked with mStoner this week to narrow down the choices for a Content Management System (CMS) for the university. As a result, two CMS vendors will be invited to campus in the coming weeks to conduct separate lab testing sessions with a group of Web masters and content creators. A CMS will be chosen after these sessions.

The mStoner design team will return to campus May 22 to work with WCU 's graphic designers on ideas and concepts for aesthetic design. The consultants are working with WCU's Web Services staff to create content for the major and subsequent pages of the university Web pages.
